Ron’s VERY FIRST Searchlight job ever! - 1983

Denver Colorado - Aries V / Advanced Lighting & Engineering

1942a GE searchlight with 1940 Sperry Generator

Because of the aging Carbon Arc technology used in the old traditional outdoor searchlights which are high maintenance, heavy trailer mounted, noisy machines that required operators during the entire time the light was on, Ron has personally designed from the ground up, many various searchlight products bringing the art of searchlight advertising into the 21st century.

Ron is directly responsible for the latest advances in searchlight technology such as a “Green” zero carbon footprint Electrical Generator he has used on new year’s eve at San Antonio’s Tower Of The Americas Glass Elevator countdown to midnight. It powers the 2 searchlights, Also built by Ron, in the glass elevator for the countdown to midnight.

“ The searchlights were a huge success
last night at the Ferrari Kid Gala !
REALLY FIRST CLASS.
Please tell Ron I said thank you for
getting the light set in the perfect spot.

We will certainly call you next time we need searchlights. “

Ron has also successfully contacted the
ISS (International Space station) using
searchlights which was verified by NASA
Astronaut Don Petit onboard the ISS!
This was a project Ron did on his own
personal time in collaboration with the
San Antonio Astronomical Association,
Robert Reeves, George Cooper, Don
Pettit (astronaut), the National
Aeronautics & Space Administration
(NASA), and the Lozano Observatory in
Spring Branch, TX.
Ron used 2 small searchlights loaned to
him by an outdoor promotions company
Ron was working for at the time. Ron’s
boss at the promotions company didn't
want to devote any company time or
money in this project due to numerous
other projects the company was working
on at that time, but after an offer by Ron
to do it on his own time, Ron was allowed
to borrow the 2 Lights used in this event.
Ron could have used his own lights to do
this project, but they were located in storage out of state at the time so it was
easier to borrow similar lights instead.
Ron even travelled to spring branch, TX
and drove his old blue Ford van up some
pretty treacherous gravel and dirt roads
to reach the observatory where the event
took place!
zArc™ produces 33% - 40% more Luminous Flux than any previous Searchlight Lamp Technology!
